About

Dr Felecia Sumner

Dr Sumner gets it.

"I'd like to care for my patients the same way I want myself and family to be cared for..."

-Felecia Sumner, DO

Patients deserve a doctor who doesn’t make assumptions, takes time to listen to her patients, encourages them to ask difficult questions, and takes the time to make sure they understand explanations. They deserve a doctor that navigates the healthcare landscape, coordinates care between specialists, and makes sense of a complex health history. Patients deserve a doctor that looks at them as a whole person and puts their health into context with their life and their budget. Dr. Sumner gets it and is delivering outstanding care to her patients at Synergize DPC.

Dr. Sumner was inspired to be a doctor after experiencing her own family's struggles with healthcare. Like many of her patients, she was heartbroken after witnessing the failures of the traditional healthcare system. Her family was often treated like numbers instead of people, and left with few options to pursue the level of healthcare they deserved. These experiences have fueled her passion to be the very best for her patients and to continually treat them how she would want her own family to be treated.

Family

Originally, from Philadelphia, PA, Dr Sumner has spent most of her life in the Philadelphia area and surrounding suburbs.  She met her husband, Doyne while they were in college and they have been together ever since. They have three beautiful children and enjoy watching them grow and learn. She enjoys quality time with her family, singing, cooking, reading, and taking day trips to random new areas.

Education and Experience

Dr. Sumner obtained her bachelor’s degree with honors in biology/pre-medicine from Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA. She obtained her medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her family medicine residency at Crozer-Keystone in Delaware County, PA and was praised for her dedication to the community throughout her residency and years as an attending physician thus far.

Dr. Sumner has spent time practicing in the urban and suburban areas of Philadelphia and Delaware County. In addition, she spent some years practicing in rural Georgia. These experiences have allowed her to perfect providing care for a wide range of concerns, from newborn care to geriatrics, and even including critical care and procedures.

In addition, Dr Sumner has training in Integrative and Functional Medicine. This approach has allowed her to care for her patients from a wholistic point-of-view. Although she is well-equipped to prescribe medication when needed, she will also work with patients to get off medications if desired and work with them to figure out the "root cause" of most chronic illnesses. Dr Sumner is happy to provide her patients with the very best personalized and high-quality comprehensive care.
